We understand horses.
That's where everything starts.
SuJoHorses was built around a simple idea: horses that feel good move well, and horses that move well perform better and stay sound longer.
That sounds obvious. But it's easy for the focus to shift to training outcomes, competition results, management systems. Rather than the horse become secondary, we keep the horse primary.
Dental comfort, spinal mobility, training that the horse understands, conditioning that builds the horse up rather than wearing it down: these aren't separate things. They're connected, and treating them as connected is how we approach every horse we work with.
Experience with a range of horses
We've worked with horses across disciplines including endurance, stock work, pleasure, starting young horses as well as restarting horses with problems. The variety matters. Different horses in different situations develop different patterns, and the more situations you've seen, the better you read what's in front of you.
Comfort before performance
A horse that's not comfortable can't perform its best. Asking it to is a short term strategy. We look for and address the things that are limiting a horse before asking more of it. Often that changes everything.
Honest assessments
If a horse needs something we can't provide, we say so. If a problem sits outside what chiro or dental work can address, we'll tell you and point you in the right direction. The horse's welfare comes first, which means giving you an honest picture rather than the one you might want to hear.
Practical horsemanship
We work in the real world, on real properties, in real paddocks and at real events. We understand that horses are managed in all sorts of conditions, that riders have varying levels of experience, and that solutions need to be practical as well as correct.
Endurance
We ride. We don't just advise.
Endurance is part of what we do, not just a service we offer. The experience of conditioning horses for distance, managing them at events, making decisions on trail and understanding what the sport demands of a horse informs everything about how we support endurance horses and their riders.
If you're building an endurance horse, or trying to figure out why one isn't performing or recovering as it should, that lived experience matters.
